Piano:

Step-by-Step

It can be daunting starting a new piece from scratch.  What key is it in?  Where are the starting notes?  What speed should you play?  So many unknowns!  You probably have lessons from a teacher.  That’s great, but when you’re at home during the week practising on your own it can often feel like you haven’t got someone to help you.  Maybe you’re forgotten some of the things that your teacher said in your last lesson.  What now?

Piano: Step-by-Step is a new practice resource that picks up where your teacher left off.  Several pieces are covered, and for each piece there is a series of short videos, each one demonstrating how to play a phrase.  The relevant section of the sheet music is highlighted, and there are short notes accompanying each video.  Piano: Step-by-Step takes you through all the right-hand phrases of a piece, then all the left-hand phrases.  You can watch each video as many times as you need to, to make sure you’re absolutely certain how to play each phrase.  It’s like having your teacher sitting next to you.

Piano: Step-by-Step is best used on a tablet, sitting on your music stand next to your sheet music.  You can go from one to the other, checking your playing against the videos.  It may be that there are some pieces you can already play, but you’re struggling a little in the more difficult sections.  Open the page on the piece you’re working on, then skip to the videos of the relevant section.  Piano: Step-by-Step can help just where you need it most.
